A Blot in the Landscape?
It is often proffered that industry has no place in the British countryside. But is this always the case? The British countryside has always been a workplace, from farming, through mineral mining to the modern industries. Indeed, such industries provide much needed employment for this who live in the countryside. Without these sources of employment, the countryside would be reduced to little more than a theme park for those wealthy enough to live there. In this project, I will use the landscape genre with a documentary style, to show that sensitively located, industry can have a place in the countryside, and perhaps we should stop viewing it as a Blot in the Landscape.
